A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE PASS CHRISTIAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL'S GIFTED CLASSES FOR BEING AMONG THE TOP TEN IN THE NATION IN THE UNITED STATES NAVY'S NAME THE SHIP CONTEST.

WHEREAS, the Pass Christian Elementary School's gifted classes received top honors for the State of Mississippi and were selected among the "Top Ten" in the nation in the U.S. Navy's Name the Ship contest; and

WHEREAS, this was the first time the Navy has held this type of contest and Pass Christian was selected out of over 1,600 entries; and

WHEREAS, the Pass Christian team did extensive research in making its recommendations to the Secretary of the Navy; and

WHEREAS, participants from the Pass Christian Elementary School's 2nd through 5th grade gifted classes 1997-1998 Name the Ship teams are:

DESIGN TEAM - Kyle Patridge, Corey Chapman, Anthony

Landry, Lanson Twyner, Jimmy Steube, Sandy Le, Cameron

Black, Tyler Russell, Lex Reid, Matthew Black, Daniel

John, Aaron Saucier and Lien Nguyen; TECHNICAL TEAM -

Rodney Smith, Jarvis McInnis, Janel Gilbert, Darius

Gray, Erinn McKay; WRITING TEAM - Robin Isabelle and

Stephanie Beale; ART TEAM - Hank Breazeale, Kayla

Verdin, Sarah Freeman, Chaz Joffries, Cherie Goff and

Jane Claire Montgomery; BIBLIOGRAPHY TEAM - Amanda

Necaise, Jessica Jenkins, Whitney Church and Rachel

Jenkins; COMMUNITY OUTREACH TEAM - Brian Smith, Tommy

Wallace, Cindy Reid, Beau Sellers, Taba Zimmerman and

Heidi Knight; EDUCATIONAL TEAM - Frederick Wiley,

Sarah Jacobs, Gerad Walker, Justin Humphrey and Brad

Jones; Ms. Eva Jenkins, Gifted Teacher; and Ms. Vicki

Morrison, 5th Grade Teacher; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Senate to commend the meritorious accomplishments of the youth of the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the Pass Christian Elementary School's 2nd through 5th grade gifted classes 1997-1998 for being among the "Top Ten" in the U.S. Navy's Name the Ship Contest and wish them continued success in their academic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Pass Christian Elementary School.
